GelNest™ is a basement membrane product identical in composition and performance to Corning® Matrigel® Matrix. GelNest™ Matrix extracted from Engelbreth-Holm-Swarm (EHS) mouse sarcomas using genetically identical mouse lines and SOP's. EHS tumors contain plentiful ECM proteins such as laminin (60%), collagen IV (30%), heparan sulfate proteoglycans, nidogen (8%), and several growth factors. Part number 211492 has been optimized for angiogenesis experiments. Each lot is tested to ensure it can support the formation of vascular networks on the surface of the matrix gel. Please note this formulation contains phenol red as an indicator. When frozen the color may differ from yellow to dark red. This is normal and results from the interaction of carbon dioxide, the bicarbonate buffer and phenol red. The color variation is harmless and goes away when the product reaches temperature and carbon dioxide equilibrium in the incubator.
