Apex Safe DNA Gel Stain replaces hazardous and mutagenic Ethidium Bromide (EtBr) and is supplied in 20,000x concentration, twice that of similar products so that you can stain more gels and stretch your budget. Compatible in both agarose and polyacrylamide gels, simply add to the gel solution before pouring the gel. Apex Safe DNA Gel Stain emits green flourescence when bound to dsDNA or ssDNA and red flourescence when bound to RNA. It also offers better sensitivity than EtBr - detect as little as 0.1ng of DNA.
Apex Safe DNA products are considered safer than Ethidium Bromide. They are non-carcinogenic as determined by the Ames-test, with negative results in mouse primary spermatocycte chromosomal aberration tests and mouse marrow chromophilous erythrocyte micronucleus tests.
